Living in 2020 has certainly been interesting. We have seen liberties trashed and a virus that has a 99.9% survivability rate destroy our entire economy. It has been at the root of civil unrest and destruction all across the country and we have seen our lives change overnight. The fact is that all for the sake of power the United States of America is basically an Authoritarian country. Each Governor in the United States has been given almost absolute power and we have seen laws put in place that has made life really hard. What has also been really hard is the economic shutdowns and companies not being able to deliver goods. This has been different all around in certain locations, but as a person who has medical needs, it scares me. I have a stoma. This means I simply need an amount of ostomy gear each month to live a happy, healthy, and clean life. It is normally not a very big deal or nor has it given me any issues in the past with being able to live happily, but this year I am a bit scared.
I am a little scared because I have seen a virus that has zero impact on most lives shut down the medical field in some ways. It has made getting ostomy gear very hard and impossible at times for some in the United States. That sounds insane and unheard of but it has happened. Governors who have unlimited power have even encouraged riots and destruction of pharmacies and medical places and that is where people go to get ostomy gear when no one will deliver it. Living in Los Angeles, Seatle, or any major city in California and sometimes New York has been like living in a 3rd world socialist country. It is hard to see friends suffer and run past due on their ostomy gear and that is why I think we can no longer trust the system to work. We have to prepare on our own like we can have a natural disaster any day even when you live in a place that has no natural disasters.
It is a new normal and that is that our government is not out to help us but to hurt us. We have seen all of this and it has been about power and control. The control over people’s minds has been sad, but now I think it is only wise to stock up on ostomy gear and essentials because there may come a time when it is not possible to get it. The tv may say a peaceful protest is going on, but when your street is on fire and any delivery truck that comes in is broken into and destroyed, it makes things a little harder. I am not even joking and that is what makes this so sad.
So don’t be silly and think everything is OK everywhere. Make sure you have enough gear to survive one of these insane and totally possible and in some cases probable occurrences. If you have seen it happen once in multiple major cities it can happen again and most likely will and even worse. Don’t believe lies on TV believe friends who are suffering and afraid to leave their homes.
